Assessing Effectiveness

When someone buys some anti spyware programs, they have to set up the assessment criteria that will determine whether the system is working. The effectiveness of the anti spyware programs is not something that should be ignored because the costs of rescuing an infected computer are quire high when compared to those of protecting it in the first place. The criterion that is set up in the article outlines the things that are expected of that software in order to protect the whole computerized system.
The anti spyware programs have to be able to detect the viruses that are on the computer itself before it starts other work. In the course of the business processes that happen prior to the purchase of antivirus software, it is possible that a virus or some spyware may have infected the computer. It then falls on the protection software to scan the computer and come up with a list of threats.
Each of the items on this list should give the user the options to deal with the computer virus. These options may include quarantining it for a certain period of time while further investigation is carried out by the antivirus system. If the element is cleared, then the user can go on working normally but if it is found to contain harmful objects then it will have to be deleted.
Awareness of the Risks
The other alternative is to have real time protection. This works in such a way as to prevent that spyware from being installed in the first place. It operates like a firewall that will guard the computer against any intruders and will make efforts to ensure that those that manage to bypass the systems are not allowed to progress much further than the bare minimum.
If the software is unable to achieve this, then the viruses will gradually congregate until they overwhelm the computer itself. It must be noted that once a virus attaches itself to a computer, it is very difficult to get rid of it and the process might even involve the complete re-installation of the programs.
Even then there is no guarantee that the spyware will not continue monitoring the computer and sending messages back to the rogue center. Longstanding files may become corrupted such that they are no longer accessible for the user.
Free anti spyware programs are to be avoided if they involve the downloading of other harmful products. Some of the rogue elements have improved their strategies by specifically exploiting the fears of the customers. The process involves a message that pops up and tells the user that there is a problem with their computer and that they need to download some software to deal with that problem. Once the user clicks the appropriate button, the rogue software will quickly take control of the computer and install as many viruses as it chooses. One is then left with more problems than they started with. The costs of dealing with these issues can become prohibitive.
